Chesapeake City property tax rate:
.4222¢ per $100 of the assessed value of the property. Property taxes are collected by the Cecil County Treasurer’s Office.
Water and Sewer Billing Rates(effective July 2012)
Residential Dwelling- In Town: base rate of $165 per quarter, plus $.00685 per each gallon of water.
Multi-Dwelling - In Town: base rate of $165 per quarter per each dwelling unit, plus $.00685 per each gallon of water.
Residential Dwelling - Out of Town: base rate of $247.50 per quarter per dwelling unit plus $0.01028 per each gallon of water.
Commercial - In Town Less than 40,000/yr: based on previous years usage, base rate of $165 per quarter plus $.00685 per each gallon of water.
Commercial - In Town Greater than 40,000/yr: based on previous years usage, base rate of $258 per quarter plus $0.02010 per each gallon of water.
Commercial - out of Town: 1.75 times the base rate and per gallon rate for Commercial – in Town.
Water Only: Water only service is one-half (1/2) the applicable In-Town or Out-of-Town rent/rate for water and sewer described above.
Sewer Only: Sewer only service is calculated at the usage rate of one-half (½) the average household usage of 250 gallons per day multiplied by the applicable In-Town or Out-of-Town rent/rate for water and sewer outlined above.
Church Facilities and Lodges: $.00685 per gallon of water - no base charge
The Above rates are in addition to the BRF. The State of Maryland has passed Senate Bill 320 which raises the BRF (Bay Restoration Fee) to $15.00 per quarter, per unit. Any questions about this fund and to see if you qualify for exemption please go to www.dhr.state.md.us/meap/income.htm
The above modified Water and Sewer rates shall become effective with the commencement of the first billing quarter in FY 2012-2013.
